The Vision and Masterplan for The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery (PMAG):
In December 2022 we launched our vision for Potteries Museum & Art Gallery comprising 5 Phases of Development:
1. Redevelopment of the Spitfire Gallery
2. Co-location of the City’s Archive Services
3. Securing Cultural Development Funding to Improve Public Facilities
4. Re-interpretation of the Museum Galleries
5. An Extension of the City’s Art Gallery
To date, we have successfully delivered Phases 1 & 2, and secured the funding for Phase 3. This will enable us to improve visitor facilities at PMAG, and crucially, provide better orientation for exploring the collections and allow public areas to be zoned off to maximise the delivery of events and activities. This will also allow us to extend our evening activities and build on our successful film and lecture series.
However, the Cultural Development Fund project will also help to unlock Phase 4 of the masterplan and enable us to reimagine the museum collection and re-interpret the current galleries. Further funding bids will be developed to achieve this phase of the vision. The re-interpretation project will not only make PMAG a must-see cultural tourism destination, but also provide residents with a flagship institution at the heart of our City celebrating our rich and diverse cultural heritage.
