The Power Project - 'We Are'

The Power Project is a company of teenagers who are into creativity, connection and making boundary-pushing performance! Since February 2024, they have been coming together to take part in workshops, holiday projects and create shows. The poem below was created by some of the current members of the Power Project during their weekly sessions at the Ballroom, Restoke’s home at Fenton Town Hall.

Restoke put the people of Stoke-on-Trent at the heart of creative adventures. We make performances, plan events and run workshops alongside people who may not usually meet, forming new bonds of friendship, understanding and solidarity in the city. For more information about Restoke’s work and our restoration of the Ballroom at Fenton Town Hall visit www.restoke.org.uk

We Are

We are clouds, trees, lemonade and hangouts

We are parks, water fights, ice creams and sunburn.

We are new build council houses, fields and well kept gardens

We are corner shops, green crescents, street lights and home by 11.

We are six towns, canal walks, factories and museums

We are kids on bikes, chocolate biscuits, Domino's pizzas and walking in the rain.

We are glad of our friends

Of the Power Project

Of having the space to dance.

Of the town hall’s Bridgerton staircase

Of a giant building with giant windows

Of bangin’ food in the cafe.

Of there being somewhere for people of all ages

Somewhere for the community

Our second home.

We are glad of Fenton Town Hall.
